Toongabbie East Public School supports student wellbeing through recognising efforts towards the school expectation and goals - CALMS. Student effort is recognised through the rewarding of Kai Cash. Kai Cash is then used to purchase items in 'The Burrow' shop which is located on school grounds. One Kai Cash is the equivalent of one dollar.
Rewarding students with Kai Cash contributes to their learning of real-world financial literacy.
The Burrow has a lot of products that range from stationery, Lego, sporting goods, board games and even sensory toys. Students are responsible for checking that they have enough Kai Cash to purchase an item (or items). When the Burrow is accepting orders, students tour the Burrow to have a look at what they can purchase. They then order in a 'Click and Collect' system. Orders are taken, Kai cash is collected and stamped (so it can't be reused) and the students are welcomed back into the Burrow at their designated collection time to pick up their purchases. Students then take their purchases and their spent Kai Cash home so parents and carers can see the awesome work they have done to receive the Kai Cash!
